MY FRAGRANCE STORY

Hey people! Good to have you here. It feels to me, like it's been a while. I trust you have  been very well. I have been very well myself. I put this up for just you. Before you carry on, grab a seat, a snack, and a cold drink *smiles. Here we go........

You sure have stepped into a room, sat on the same row with total strangers. Haven't you? So I had this experience, where I attended a conference, and guess what? The only person I knew in that conference was me. I mean it felt like everyone who registered for that conference, registered with a friend. So, good thing I had a book in my bag to keep me company before the conference started.

The conference started on a very good note; the speakers did such a great job. Although I was getting tired, I was having such a great time. So, when the compere announced we were going to have an hour break before we carried on with the conference; it was like cold water to a thirsty soul. I headed out to the restaurant to grab a bite.

Just as I get into the restaurant; I see someone beside me saying hello with a broad smile. I say hello, giving this stranger a warm dimpled smile.  Apparently, this “stranger” is also a participant at the conference.  You remember the warning from our parents when we were younger right?  Don't talk to strangers! These words from my parents resounded in my ears just the way it did as a little girl.

Just before I decided if I was going to heed this warning or not, the stranger carried on.  My name is Chris, nice to meet you.  Nice to meet you, my name is D. I replied.   The stranger carried on. Goodness! I love your fragrance! What fragrance are you wearing? I smiled telling this stranger the name of the fragrance I was wearing.

Apparently, it turns out that the fragrance is the exact one his mum used to wear. Sadly, his mum passed on only a year ago. We began to chat; only to realize we had a lot of things in common. Before we both knew it, it was only five minutes to the end of the break. We exchanged contacts, and even kept in touch after the conference.

Years have passed by, and we are still very much in touch, helping each other in achieving goals and making impact.

You know what guys; this experience taught me lots of lessons. To think it was my fragrance that actually broke the ice for a conversation that eventually turns out to be one that has lasted over the years.

One question you need to ask yourself is this. What fragrance am I wearing?  I’m definitely not talking about the physical fragrance. Of course, that’s important too.

However, when people come around you, what do they perceive? Is there a fragrance of warmth, love, care, passion, coming from you or is there a fragrance of jealousy, anger, hate, perhaps pride around you?

Sometimes, I ask myself  D, what are you wearing?  I then tell myself you should always wear a fragrance of warmth, love, care all the time. Guess what guys? Wearing a good fragrance is really nice and I love it, but you know what’s nicer? That's right! The fragrance of love, warmth, hospitality, care. That's what attracts people to you.

Whatever it is you are wearing in life must be targeted at what you want to attract. So, start investing in the right fragrance.

Alright guys, I hope you enjoyed reading this, as much as I enjoyed writing it. Do well to tell a friend to tell another friend to read this. I look forward to hearing your own fragrance story.

Loads of Love,
Smiling D

GET DRAMATIC!

Hey guys, it's good to have you here again. Trust you have been doing very well. Yippee!! It’s month seven already. Amazing things have been happening to me since the year began, and I am very grateful. I can tell that you have some amazing things that have been happening to you as well. I'd be happy to share in your joy. I put this piece up just for you. Have a good read.....

It’s very easy to be all prim and proper in front of an audience right? Behind closed doors, can you say your finesse is still very much active?  Well, only a year ago, I was involved in a project, and things weren't moving as fast as I thought they would. To make matters worse, time was running out, and the project had to be executed before the year took a bow. At some point, it felt like all the skills I had acquired were not even giving me the expected results. It felt like this project wasn't going to pull through, and then suddenly my dramatic skills popped up. Behind closed doors, whilst commuting, whilst taking a walk, I became an actress. I got very dramatic, and would play out all the scenes of all I desired in that project. Months passed, I kept my scenes active. I deliberately refused to be deterred by all the negatives that were glaring. It was my scene anyway; I decide what to have in the script, so I kept acting out all the details of how I wanted my project to be.

Guys, to my amazement, only few days to the end of the year, all the scenes I had acted, the one-man drama, turned out to be a reality. The project was executed beautifully. Everything happened so fast, and turned out to be the most amazing thing that happened that period.

I have discovered for myself, that getting dramatic works.  Of course, adding God's word into the script and calling all what you desire forth is what makes the played out scenes a reality. Though it may tarry, it will come, on the other hand it just may not tarry. It could come faster than you expected. Whatever it is you desire, begin to act it out in your mind.  Your mind is  more powerful than you can imagine. It will amaze you how this acting skill works. Don't hesitate; start acting.  You may not be a good actor/actress, never mind, there's only one audience and that's you. So really, nothing should stop you. I look forward to hearing your dramatic story.

Do well to share this post, and drop a comment. Have a great one!

Love You Loads,
Smiling D.

TAKE HEED!

Hey people, it’s always good to have you here! I trust you have been very well. I have been doing very well myself. Often times, I write based on real experiences.  Here is another. Enjoy.....

So, I hadn’t seen my childhood friend for months, so I decided to stop by at hers and catch up on both stale and fresh gist *smiles. You know the excitement that comes from seeing a friend after a long time. We did a lot of catching up.

After spending one solid hour from talking, we both realized that we were famished. My friend hurriedly went into the kitchen. She told me how she had cooked the food earlier knowing I was coming to hers.

Just after she got the food out of the microwave, I was already salivating as the aroma was very inviting. I got my cutlery and begin to eat and boom! My friend's special food that she spent some time preparing was tasteless. So, just after that one taste, there's a lot running in my mind.  Babe, what were you thinking when you were cooking? Did you taste the food whilst cooking at all?

We kept talking, and then she asked if I enjoyed the food. I smiled and told her I did not enjoy the food, nevertheless, I sure had a great time.

When I got home, I was still saying to myself, what's the deal about cooking?  Anyways, after some time, I just let it go. Little did I know that I would have a worse experience? I mean, considering the fact that most times, I am very proud of what I cook. In fact, I am always happy to say to my friends, "Guys there’s food at home do you want to stop by?

So, this beautiful Sunday afternoon, I had this delicious stew I had prepared, so I told a couple friends to come over for lunch. Of course, they were very happy to. I decided to make some rice that would go with this delicious stew. In good time, the white rice was ready to be served, so I dished the food and presented it to every one of them. In something that seemed like a split second, I realized that the expression on the face of my guest was thoroughly transformed. I started to wonder what this could possibly be about.

Just immediately, I find the answer by tasting my own food. The food was no good at all. In short, it had salt that was sufficient enough to prepare two pots of rice. At this point, I had to start apologizing to my friends about this mishap. Needless to say, I had the bin grace my food’s presence. That’s my story guys.

I re-learnt that day, on how we need to cut people some slack, yes you and me. Remember Albert Einstein’s quote? “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid”.

Alright guys, on a final note, I learnt that, she who thinks she can cook should take heed lest she cooks a meal that is suitable for only the bin.

I'd be happy to hear from you. Do well to tell a friend to tell another friend who will in turn tell another friend to read.

Loads of Love,
Smiling D

FIXIT OR LOOSEIT

Hey guys, good to have you here. I trust you have been very well; it's always good to have you savor the lines, and give feedback. Thanks guys!

So, I had this experience only few days ago and thought to share with you the lessons I learnt from it.

Two years ago, I got this pouch for my tab. My attraction to the pouch in the first place was the royal touch that came with it. It was a purple colored pouch and had glitters on it. Anytime, I brought my tab out, I always heard words like, 'You've got a lovely pouch', 'Where did you get that pouch from?'

I would then respond with this warm smile and give multiple ‘thank you’ phrases for the kind words.

Just about two weeks ago, I realized that a part of the glitter had come off the pouch, and had begun to dangle. As soon, as I noticed this deformity, I decided I was going to get a glue and fix it, just to get my pouch glitter back in shape.

Days passed, a week passed and for some reasons owed to procrastination, I didn’t get to fix my pouch early enough. Only a few days ago, I took my pouch from my bag, as I needed to do some work on my tab.  Guess what guys? The glitter had totally come off! How that happened, when it happened I can't say, but what I can say is that I lost the glitter that made my pouch 'shine', just because I didn't fix it.

It then occurred to me, if you don't fix it now, then you lose it. I didn't fix the glitter to my pouch and I lost it. Guys, the 'it' could be anything, of value to you. If you think it's a relationship, fix it, so you don't lose it. Perhaps it’s your academics, fix it so you don't lose it, just maybe it’s your career fix it, so you don't lose it. A negative attitude? Fix it, so you don't lose good people and good opportunities in your life.

No matter how irrelevant it feels or looks, don't procrastinate, fix it so you don't lose it. I learnt the hard way as I lost a bit of the 'shine' to my pouch. Whatever 'it' may represent in your life, fix it guys, so you don't lose it.  A call, an extra hour of study, a conference, or even an apology may just be what you need to do to fix it. Fix it guys, and you don't have to lose it.
Loads of love,
Smiling D.

ATTRACT!

Hi guys, it’s been a very good year so far, I hope it has been for you, O well, even if it hasn't it still will. I put this post just for you so savor the lines below......
I'm very sure you have heard, over and over again, how powerful our thoughts are; for me I sure have heard it over and again. However, an experience I had just few months ago, made me realize that this notion of our thoughts being powerful, and you attracting what you think about is no joke at all.
So, it was that time of the month, where my monthly guest knocked at the door (if you know what I mean *winks*). I gave her not a very warm welcome, because sometimes, the stress that accompanies her isn't one I enjoy at all. After her third day of visit, I was glad because I knew this visit was coming to an end gradually. O well, she left happily, and I was also very glad to bid her farewell, and then expect her the next time she was due for another visit
Right after this visit, I felt as free as a bird and so decided to go for this event. I wore a lovely dress had my heels on, looking really gorgeous. All of a sudden, this stray thought crept in very quickly of how I might still have my supposedly gone visitor come back for a visit that I definitely wasn’t prepared for. This thought lingered enough to create so great a fear that almost felt like reality. So here’s what happened: in a short time, I ran my hands behind my lovely dress, and guess what? The thing I feared most had seemingly come upon me, my dress was wet.  O mine! So, I summoned up courage as much as I could get at the time, got up, managed to wrap my scarf around my lovely dress and headed to the restroom. At this point I started to pan out ideas on how to get my scarf nicely wrapped enough to conceal this “woe”. I eventually arrived at the restroom after a walk from the auditorium that seemed like a life’s time trip. Amazingly, I realized that what I feared was only strong to make me feel like it was a reality but was definitely not powerful enough to bring my visitor back. It succeeded though in bringing the effect that always came with the visit I feared most. So, I decided to walk back to the auditorium, wondering deeply what this was about and determined to get to the root of this matter. I got to my seat, only to realize that my seat was the culprit. Guys, my seat was wet (not from the monthly visitor of course). It turns out that someone had accidentally poured water on it before I got in, and then I sat right on that seat. That wet seat, guys,  indeed definitely cooperated with my fear-filled thoughts, so my monthly guest wasn't guilty after all!
This was a huge lesson for me, and I understood how powerful my thoughts are, and how much what I think about becomes what I experience. After this wonder encounter, I have consciously decided to discard negativities in my thought world, as my thoughts and experiences have eventually become like what magnet is to metals, they just attract each other.
Final words for you; be very careful to discard the negative thoughts that come into your thought world. The negative thoughts always come so fast and subtly but yet forcefully enough to make you succumb. Give room only to the positive thoughts that come knocking at the doors of your mind. This way you are headed towards attracting positivity as your thoughts and experiences will always follow suit the “metal to magnet story”. Do this, and you have signed up for a never ending happy life.
I'd be very happy for you to tell a friend to tell another friend who will in turn tell another friend to read this. Do well to drop a comment. Have a lovely time!
Loads of love,
Smiling D

MEET SOPHIE!!

Hey guys, I trust you have been very well, I have been very fine myself, and thought to share an experience I had with a two year old. I am sure you'd enjoy this gist and learn from it as well.
Meet my darling; her name is Sophie, she's a cute two year old and she is my housemate's daughter. In a very short time, she became so fond of me, and me of her.
At the time I moved into that house, Sophie only spoke baby languages, I never understood what she always said. However, when she had her lovely cute smile on, I'd know she's excited, and then when she had her loud screams and cries, then I'd know she's sad about something.
Well, long and short, her baby language was so fluent.
Every time I got back home, I'd wear my biggest dimpled smile and I'd say to her "Hi darling", Sophie always returned the smile and would speak her baby language that I hardly ever understood. This happened for weeks, and then one beautiful evening, I get back home, looking forward to seeing this cutie,  I open the door, and there she is, giving me the cutest baby smile ever  and then she goes,  "Hi darling". What!!! What did I just hear? O well, I didn't hear wrong, I really heard that from her mouth,  I was so shocked, and so was her mum.  It was hilarious, I was laughing so hard and I replied "Hi darling, how are you?" and she goes "how are you?'' and I go, "I'm fine" and she goes "I'm fine" I was so enjoying this moment; I didn't quite want it to end, but you know what a very busy day can do to you.
That same period, when I'm leaving, I'd tell Sophie, "See you soon", and amazingly when she comes to my room, and is about to leave, she'd say, " See you soon" with a very serious face. Just look at that! *smiles
Other than the humor this experience had in it, I understood again that the more you stay around, someone, the more you become like it.
Just look at this; just by saying some things to a two year old who only spoke baby languages, in a short time she began to say the exact things I was saying to her, how much more adults.
The key point here is this, whatever it is you want to be or to achieve; you've got no worries, achieving it is very possible.  However, you need to begin to be around people, and the environment who fluently speak the "language" of what you intend to be or achieve. I need not ask if you want to be great, as I know you want to be.So..... begin to stay around those people who speak the language of greatness, the language of hard work, the language of diligence, the language of effective time management, you name the languages and in no time, effortlessly, you'd have become so "fluent" in whatever it is you wanted to achieve.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Loads of Love,
Smiling D.

EXPECT!!!!

Hey guys,
A very happy new year to you, I bet you must have heard this a zillion times this year *smiles. Well, I won't get tired of hearing it, at least not until, maybe next month.
Well, well, well, its a new year again, and I am very grateful to God  for every thing He's done these past years, I'm sure you can say same for yourself too. So,I thought to share my thoughts with you; I am sure it'd inspire you as much as it has me. Come along.......
Alright, I realize that often times, when I think about some things, eventually those things happen; sadly, even the negative ones. Sometime last year, I had worked so hard in a particular month,I hardly had time for myself. It was a very sunny day, I was headed somewhere, and then the very thought of me fainting came  to me like a flashlight. I just ignored it and kept at what I was doing. You wont believe it in less than two hours, my feet couldn't hold my body anymore. In less than 5minutes, I didn't quite know what was happening to me. I had fainted, and it took sometime for me to be fully recovered. Just look at that!
On a  lighter note, I have thought about some really lovely things, and in a short time, I begin to experience what I thought of.
I then thought to myself, if just by thinking about something, then somehow it becomes reality, sometimes quickly, some other times taking some time, then I concluded that the thinking business is a good business.
I would say a very large percentage of what I have achieved, I had thought about it, or imagined it.
Yeah, this may sound cliche, but it has worked  for me. Hence, my resolve this year is to begin to expect good things to happen for me, to  me around me and even in me. I read a story of a man, who always after every conversation, his last words are "Good things happen to me always". Little wonder, he has achieved a lot of good things.
So, let's move guys, today,  tomorrow, next week, next month, all through the year, let's stay expectant, and keep imagining good things happening to us and they sure will.
Of course, not taking my eyes off the principles of hard work and diligence, but I believe it all starts with what we expect and somehow our expectations could give us that drive to work very hard to achieve all what we expect to come our way.
I have started expecting, and I have starting penning them down.  C'mon get your pen and notepad, and begin to write down what you expect this year  and sooner than you know, your expectations would have become a reality.
When they become a reality, which they will, do well to share the story. I'd be expecting.
Loads of love,
Smiling D.
